Your production date is confirmed, but some part details are still missing.
Before asking for a quote, separate confirmed information from details that still need checking. Use this checklist to prepare a clear Winbond Flash enquiry.
1. Confirm the Full Part Number
Copy the complete manufacturer part number from the approved BOM, including all suffixes.
Do not guess missing characters. If the BOM and purchasing record differ, ask engineering to confirm the approved part number.
A chip marking or label photo can help start a review, but the full ordering number still needs confirmation.
2. Give Quantity and Arrival Date
Include:
- Quantity needed now
- Required arrival date at your site
- Delivery destination
- Whether partial delivery is acceptable
Separate sample quantities from production quantities. Label forecasts clearly; they are not confirmed orders.
Instead of “urgent,” give a specific date. Also confirm whether the supplier’s quoted date means shipment or arrival.
3. Share Special Requirements Early
Tell the supplier before quotation if you need:
- A specific date-code range
- Tape-and-reel, tray, or other packaging
- Traceability or supporting documents
- Customer-approved sources
- No substitutions without written approval
Ask what is available for the specific supply source. Confirm these details before placing an order—not when shipment is ready.
4. Mark What Is Still Missing
Confirm missing details with the right team:
- Full part number: engineering or the BOM owner.
- Arrival date: planning or the project team.
- Source and document requirements: quality or the customer.
- Alternative parts: the team responsible for engineering and customer approval.
For NPI (new product introduction), state whether the request is for samples, a pilot build, or production.
A sourcing check is not approval to change the BOM.

Before You Place the Order
Check the full part number, quantity, delivery terms, packaging, documents, and quotation validity.
If quotes differ, compare their conditions—not just unit prices.
An initial check does not reserve stock or guarantee delivery. A quotation does not replace engineering or customer approval.
